We are now registering for the 2014-2015 school year.
The mission of "Little Lambs Preschool" is helping young children develop by providing a spiritual, emotional, and educational foundation based on God's word. Growing in faith, praising God and sharing his forgiveness.
Our desire to provide a Christian preschool experience for young children flows from God's commands to us to "train up a child in the way he should go", to "feed (His) lambs", and to "bring up a child in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." Our preschool strives to assist parents, not replace them in this privilege and responsibility.
We wish to provide such a nurturing environment, not only to Christ's lambs that are members of our church family, but also to others in the community.
This schedule is very flexible and may vary depending on the activities and projects for the day. The schedule is a tool to make the day run smoothly and to give the children a sense of following a routine.
Little Lambs Preschool includes programs for children who are 3 and 4 years old by September 1 of the coming school year.
A non-refundable fee of $60.00 is required at the time of registration. This fee guarantees your child a place in the preschool class. Registration for your child is complete when the fee and registration form have been received. A class confirmation will be sent to you when we receive the fee and registration form.
A yearly tuition of $1,260 for the 2 day a week class can be paid at the beginning of the school year, or a monthly fee (September - May) of $140.00 must be paid by the first of each month. For the 3 day a week class the yearly tuition of $1,440.00 can be paid at the the beginning of the year, or a monthly fee (September - May) of $160.00 must be paid by the first of each month. Checks should be made payable to "Shepherd of the Hills" and should be delivered by the parent to the tuition box outside the Preschool classroom. Please do not send money or checks with your child. Delinquent payments will be addressed by the Board of Education at Shepherd of the Hills. Consistent failure to make payments on time could result in a request to withdraw the child from the program.
If the child does not make the proper adjustments to preschool, or is considered in any way to be a detriment to the other children or preschool program, and upon recommendation of the teacher and administration, a parent may be requested to withdraw such a child.
Staffing and Administration
Our preschool teacher is Mrs. Joan Arndt. She is a graduate of Dr. Martin Luther College, in New Ulm, MN. She holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education and is a mother of six. Prior to teaching at Shepherd of the Hills, Mrs. Arndt taught 2nd grade for a year in Illinois, and 1st and 2nd grade in Marshall, MN. She also has experience teaching preschool in Illinois and four years running a toddler program a the local library.
Arrival and Dismissal
Our school doors will open at 8:50 a.m. for the morning session. We ask that an adult accompany the child to the classroom. Children are to be picked up inthe classroom, again by an adult, immediately following class dismissal. If someone else will be picking up your child from school, please notify the teacher in advance. Your child will only be released to those designated on the registration form.
Discipline will be based on Christian love and concern for each child. Any problem situation will be discussed with parents as the need arises. The staff will emphasize positive behavior, offer reasonable choices, recognize feelings and make clear when a child's behavior is unacceptable. This will be done in a caring way and as consistent a manner as possible.
We ask that your child dress in durable, washable play clothes. We recommend that you send an extra set of clothes to be left at school for emergencies. You may want to label boots, sweaters, mittens, etc. to avoid mix-ups.
The children may be taken on field trips during the year. A permission slip will be sent home with each child before the trip. Sometimes additional fees will need to be paid for these field trips, but you will be notified of the cost in advance.
In case of emergency or serious illness, immediate first aid will be administered and, if necessary, we will call 911. Parents will be notified immediately. A first aid kit will be readily available in the classroom.
Parents are asked to keep home any child with an infectious disease or illness. Please notify the school of any contagious disease or illness your child may have, so we can notify parents if their children have been exposed.
If you child should become ill as school, we will notify you to come to school and pick your child up. If your child will not be in schoold for the day, please notify the school (651-451-9225 ext. 14).
It is a Minnesota state requirement that each child have a completed immunization form on file with the school before he/she can begin classes.
The teach will administer no medicines.
Snow Days & Class Cancellations
Little Lambs Pre-School will close for snow days when District #199 closes or when travel is deemed hazardous. The teacher will contact the parents.
The children will take turns furnishing a daily snack for the entire class. The teacher will notify you when it is your child's turn. Nutritious snacks are encouraged.
